Lace pattern: 1st row = wrong side row: selvage st, * p2tog, 1 yo. p2, rep from *, selvage st. 2nd row = right side row: selvage st, * k2tog, 1 yo, k2, rep from *, selvage st. Rep 1st and 2nd rows as often as required.

Back: Cast on 102-110 sts for border. Work in lace pattern for 11 rows (= 3 cm/1 1/5). Then work in St st, increasing 0-2 sts in 1 st row from border by picking up the horizontal thread between 2 sts and k1 through back loop (= 102-112 sts). Raglan armhole shaping: After 124-118 rows (= 43-41 cm/17-16 1/8 from border), bind off 2-3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. In following 6th-4th row work raglan decs as follows: At beg of row work 2 sts, slip 2 sts to a cable needle and hold in back of work, k tog following st and 1 st st from cable needle, then k tog next st and 2nd st from cable needle. At end of row work to 6 sts before end, slip following 2 sts to a cable needle and hold in front of work. K together 1st st from cable needle and following st, then k together 2nd st from cable needle and following st. Work to end. Repeat these raglan decs every 4th and 6th row alternately 12 times-every 4th row twice and every 6th and 4th row alternately 12 times. At same time, after 62-68 rows (= 22-24 cm/ 8 3/4-9 1/2 from beg of raglan shaping), bind off center 22 sts for neck. Complete each side separately. At inside edge of every other row bind off 5 sts twice. Bind off remaining 2 sts in following row.

Front: Work as back, but for the lower neck bind off center 16 sts after 56-62 rows (= 20-22 cm/ 7 7/5- 8 3/4 from beg of raglan arm-hole shaping). Complete each side separately. At inside edge of every other row bind off 3 sts 3 times and 2 sts twice. Bind off remaining 2 sts in following row. Finishing: Block pieces, dampen, and leave to dry. Work collar in 2 pieces (this will give the collar a better hold). Pick up and k 54 sts along front neck edge. Work in lace pattern for 44 rows (= 12 cm/4 3/4). Bind off. Pick up and k 46 sts along back neck edge. Work as for front collar. Sew side and collar seams. Crochet over armhole edges, working 1 rnd of dc and 1 rnd of crab sts (= dc worked from left to right).
