These filigree knitted ornaments are great for displaying in the window, but they also make lovely gifts
Ornaments 14 cm/5 1/2, 12 cm/4 3/4, and 10 cm/ 4 0. Differing figures are given in this order, separated by hyphens. Knitting charts/KC.
Materials: For each ornament, approx. 30-25-20 g crochet cotton Anchor Liana no. 10 in white or pink (50 g/265 m/290 yds, Coats); 1 set of NOX double-pointed knitting needles size 2.5 mm (US 1, UK 13-12); transparent plastic ornaments 14-12-10 cm/5 1/2 - 4 3/4 - 4 D (Rayher art. 39 097 37-39 116 37-39 064 37); in addition: satin ribbons and assorted silk blossoms as desired (from craft shops). Working from the burda knitting chart: Read knitting chart from right to left. Figures within the knitting chart specify the no. of k sts. Figures at the right edge indicate the rnd. Blank squares have no significance. In intermediate rnds k all sts.
Large white or pink ornament Diagonal stripes 0600/22: For general instructions see ornament 0600/24. Cast on 12 sts in white or pink. In rnds 1 to 78 work 12 PR per rnd following knitting chart. For rnds 17 to 72 repeat 15th and 16th pattern-forming rnds 28 times. After rnd 78 place all 60 sts on a thread and insert large ornament.
Medium-sized white ornament 0600/23: For general instructions see ornament 0600/24. Cast on 14 sts in white. In rnds 1 to 10 work 14 PR and in rnds 11 to 68, 18 PR per rnd, following KC. For rnd numbers see figures before parentheses. For rnds 27 to 58 work 11th to 26th pattern rnds 2x. Work rnds 59 to 62 as for 11th to 14th pattern rnds, then begin rnd 63 with 1Mv. After rnd 68 place all 72 sts on a thread and insert medium-sized ornament.
Large white ornament Diamonds 0600/24: Cast on 10 sts in white. Divide sts over 4 needles and join into a rnd. In rnds1 to 86 work 10 PR per rnd, following knitting chart. Work rnds 49 to 76 as for 21 st to 48th pattern-forming rnds. After rnd 86 place all 50 sts on a thread.
Fasten off loose end left at beginning. Insert large ornament in lace cover. Pull up sts of last rnd with the thread and knot ends of thread together. Tie to eyelet on ornament. Tie satin ribbon to eyelet for hanging loop. Decorate eyelet with silk blossoms or bows of satin ribbon, as desired.
Small pink ornament 0600/25: For general instructions see ornament 0600/24. Cast on 10 sts in pink. In rnds 1 to 58 work 10 PR per rnd following knitting chart. For rnd numbers see figures in parentheses. Work rnds 17 and 18 as for 15th and 16th pattern-forming rnds, rnds 31 and 32 as for 29th and 30th pattern-forming rnds, and rnds 39 to 52 as for 11th to 23rd pattern-forming rnds.
After rnd 58 place all 40 sts on a thread and insert small ornament. Medium-sized pink ornament 0600/26: For general instructions see ornament 0600/24. Cast on 12 sts in pink. Work 12 PR per rnd following knitting chart. Work rnds 1 to 14 following knitting chart 0600/24. With beginning of rnd 15 work following knitting chart 0600/23, 26. For rnd numbers see figures in parentheses. For rnds 31 to 62 repeat 15th to 30th pattern-forming rnds twice.
After rnd 68 place all 48 sts on a thread and insert medium-sized ornament. Small white ornament 0600/27: For general instructions see ornament 0600/24. Cast on 10 sts in white. In rnds 1 to 62 work 10 PR per rnd following knitting chart. For rnd numbers see figures before parentheses. Work rnds 35 to 58 as for 11th to 34th pattern - forming rnds and rnd 59 following knitting chart. In rnds 60 to 62 work 60 k sts per rnd. After rnd 62 place all 60 sts on a thread and insert small ornament.
